preparing for the holidays
Just a few weeks after the ball drops in Times Square, the really big New Year celebration begins when more than a quarter of the world's population welcomes in The Year of The Dragon. Chinese New Year is the most important holiday in the Chinese culture. It's also the longest — a 15-day celebration that includes family reunions, sumptuous feasts, gift giving, decorating, dances and more.
Chinese New Year, or the Spring Festival as it is also known, is celebrated worldwide and is an official public holiday in China and throughout most of Southeast Asia. Of course, Leggett & Platt China Fixtures will be closed in observance of the holiday from January 21st - 28th.
Rest assured, Leggett will be fully prepared for the holiday, and once again we will have taken every step to ensure we fulfill all of the commitments we have made to our customers. All requirements through February will be scheduled to ship before Chinese New Year. Shipments not on order should begin to arrive in the first week of March.
The Year of The Dragon is marked by excitement, exhilaration, intensity and unpredictability — as if we haven't seen enough of that in our economy over the last year. Chinese tradition also holds that in The Year of The Dragon, money is easier to come by for everyone… it's a lucky time to start a new business or initiate a new project…and the economy is destined to pick up — which people throughout the world are all ready to celebrate.
